Questions and answers

The honest FAQ.

What Lotsmith does, what it does not, and what is still being built. If your question is not here, ask us directly.

  • 01What dealerships is Lotsmith built for?

Independent used-car dealers. If you carry a lot of pre-owned inventory and handle your own marketing, Lotsmith is built for you. It fits a small team where the same people sell cars and market them. Craigslist is the first place it publishes, not the whole of what it does.

  • 02How does inventory get imported?

Two ways. If your website runs on Dealer Car Search, you connect it once and Lotsmith brings in your whole lot, photos included. Otherwise you can add vehicles from a file. Either way, your inventory stays the source of truth.

  • 03Can I edit listings?

Yes. Every listing is a draft until you approve it. Change a word, a line, or the whole thing. What you approve is exactly what gets posted.

  • 04Is publishing automatic?

Not yet. Today Lotsmith prepares the finished campaign and you publish it in a couple of minutes. Automated Craigslist publishing is in progress, and it is the first of several channels. We will not turn it on quietly. You will choose to use it.

  • 05Does Lotsmith invent vehicle information?

No. Listings are built only from the facts in your inventory: the year, make, model, trim, mileage, price, and condition you provided. It writes the description, it does not make up the car.

  • 06How are my Craigslist credentials protected?

If you choose to connect them for automated posting, they are encrypted before they are stored and are never shown back to you or written to logs. You can remove them at any time.

  • 07Will other marketplaces be supported?

That is the whole idea. Lotsmith is an inventory marketing platform, and Craigslist is simply the first publishing destination. Facebook Marketplace, Google Business, your website, email, and SMS are on the roadmap. We started with Craigslist because it is where independent dealers spend the most manual effort.

  • 08Can I approve everything before it publishes?

Always. Approval is a permanent part of how Lotsmith works, not a setting that can be switched off. Nothing reaches a buyer without your sign-off.

  • 09What happens when a listing expires?

Craigslist posts age out on their own. Lotsmith is building monitoring and renewals so an expired post comes back to you fresh, ready to approve and repost, instead of quietly disappearing.

  • 10How is my data secured?

Your inventory and account data are yours. Access is protected, sensitive values like credentials are encrypted, and publishing actions are recorded so there is always a clear history of what happened and when.
